Short Bio

KP Kostas Pentikousis, PhD, is a tenured Senior Research Scientist at VTT, in Oulu, Finland. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the foremost multidisciplinary applied research organization in Northern Europe, is an impartial multidisciplinary expert organization with a 2007 annual turnover of 232 million euros. Kostas has been working in research and development positions since 1996 in both industry and academia. He joined VTT in 2005 and has since been involved in several joint and contract research projects. He served as Task Leader for Ambient Networks Phase 2 (Task B.2 Mobile Connectivity), worked on system design, drove dissemination and played a leading role in organizing M2NM. He also led VTT's effort in WEIRD on system architecture, mobility and testbed measurements.

Kostas studied computer science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (BS 1996; summa cum laude) and Stony Brook University (MS 2000, PhD 2004). He has been publishing internationally in several areas, including mobile computing, transport protocols, applications, network traffic measurements and analysis, and simulation and modeling. Kostas taught and assisted in teaching computer science courses at SBU (Best and Outstanding Teaching Assistant awards in 2002 and 2001, respectively) and gave seminars on web technologies at AUTH. He has given numerous talks on networking topics and presented tutorials at APNOMS 2005 and ISCC 2006. He was an ERCIM Fellow in 2005 and is a member of ACM, IEEE, and the Finnish Association of Graduate Engineers (TEK). Kostas serves on the TPC of various conferences and reviews papers for journals and conferences on a regular basis.

With his colleagues in 4WARD and the Finnish Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation (ICT SHOK) ``Future Internet" Programme, Kostas is currently investigating future Internet architectures, in particular information-centric networking. He is also participating in COST Action IC0703.
