Abstract—The Ambient Networks project addressed the challenges posed by the forthcoming multi-operator world filled with multi-access mobile devices and mobile networks. The Ambient Networks solution is built around a sophisticated yet modular, extensible, and incrementally deployable network control overlay, called the Ambient Control Space (ACS). An important component in the ACS is the Triggering functional entity (TRG), which delivers triggers related to mobility in a standardized way. TRG evolved during the years and is now a central part of the Ambient Networks heterogeneous access selection architecture(ANHASA) and the Ambient Networks Information Service Infrastructure (ANISI). This talk will go through the topics mentioned above, present results from TRG in the lab and in demos, and will discuss future and other related work and TRG extensions.
